Slow progress...

I'm about halfway through the head. I still don't like it. I will acknowledge that this is really a cute & clever pattern-- I might have to make a smaller version on normal-sized needles, with yarn I like the feel of. For now, I'm anxious for this one to be done.

Sue & I registered for classes at Stitches East-- I'm really looking forward to going! I'm want to work on as many of my unfinished projects and waiting-for-needles projects as I can before then, so that I can buy stuff & start new things guilt-free.

Today's our anniverary... we're celebrating by going to work, and then doing nothing. We had tentative out-to-dinner plans, but our babysitter cancelled... so maybe we'll go out to the diner, or for a BK Veggie or something equally baby-friendly. We're REALLY looking forward to our trip to Las Vegas next week!

I should've known better...

Any dental procedure that involves the words "Now you're going to smell burning rubber and see some smoke for a few seconds" can't be a good thing.

I have been in some extraordinary pain following Part 2 of a root canal on Wednesday... just managing to work, and not much else. I haven't done any knitting at all! Fortunately, I'm starting to feel better.

I joined the RAOK (Random Acts Of Kindness) ring... looking forward to doing some RAOK's... on the ring & off.

Camera, knitting, and motivation all in the same place-- watch out world!

So, I *have* been knitting... these little preemie hats have become my car project-- and I think they're really cute! The picture doesn't show it really well... but they all have different pattern variations... just to keep me from getting bored. I like the idea that my extra time (5 or 10 minutes here & there) is productive.

Last year, my grandmother in Florida was part of a project to get these hats to a hospital in Israel... I wonder if she's doing it again.

Here is my headless, armless Bobbi Bear... the ridge that you see is the "butt"... which so far is my favorite part.

This is an important project because Sam doesn't really have enough toys...

I am not liking Bobbi Bear
For this huge gauge I do not care.

He looked so cute on the Knit Happens blog
But these size 15 needles feel like logs

My thumb is cramped, my hand is sore
Knitting Bobbi is a chore

Yet I press on, though it's not much fun
To make this bear for my sweet son!

Where have I been? Here... just really busy. Jonathan & I have both been putting in a lot of extra time at work-- trying to get the new staff people trained, and trying to get close to caught up before our trip.

I have been knitting a bit-- preemie hats mostly. Those are my new "We're home, but let Sam keep napping in the carseat & I'll sit in the front seat and knit" project. They're cute. I'll take pictures when I get them in the house.

AND, I started Bobbi bear-- not cute yet... just a tube, so far... but I picked up the DPN's today, so he will hopefully have legs soon.

Pictures tomorrow.

HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY, SAM!

What an incredible year, and an incredible baby.

Jonathan, Sam & I are off to celebrate the day at the Philadelphia Zoo.

Done! (And about 2 hours to spare... no sweat!)

Sam's sweater was happy to meet its small new friend...

Aren't they cute together?

Hmmm... maybe I can finish! I have one underarm/side seam left, then sewing the hood to the back of the sweater... finding & sewing on buttons... and weaving in ends. If I get the chance to buy buttons tomorrow, I think I can finish for Sunday! Excellent.

I don't think I'm going to get the sweater done in time for Alison's shower. I've done all the knitting-- front, back, sleeves & hood are all done... but I don't think I can do all the finishing in the next 2 days... although I will try.

We're working tomorrow... tomorrow night we have to clean our house a bit... we work Friday, and then Jonathan's mom is coming into town that afternoon... Saturday, we work in the morning, and have Sam's party in the afternoon (yay!)... so it's going to be a busy few days.

I'm going to pick up stitches for the hood edging now.

Prsenting... Sam's Sweater!

The view from the back (Sam LOVES climbing the stairs!)

And a closeup of the cute teddy bear buttons

Isn't it amazing that when a project is finished, and you put it on the adorable (and perfect) recipient, all of the imperfections just disappear?

I got this picture (among others) from Ad & Amy today... had to share, of course.

I know I've said this before... but my completely favorite thing about knitting is that I can take a piece of string and create something that keeps a baby warm...

I love it!

Ahhhh... it's good to have the camera back!

That's my progress on the baby sweater for Alison-- I have about 2 inches to go on the hood, and then the finishing. I'm hoping to get it done before her shower, which is a week from Sunday. I'm also hoping to finish Sam's sweater before his birthday party next Saturday... so I have my work cut out for me this week!

We took Sam to the Middlesex County Fair tonight... it was SO much fun... he loved it, and so did we!

No knitting pictures, but some very exciting news...

Nina Jane was born happy & healthy yesterday around 8:00 p.m. Congratulations to Mommy Amy, Daddy Adam, and Big Sister Emily!

Two sleeves, front & back done... will hopefully get time to start the hood today!

Apparently, our camera is not at the low vision center-- it's at our office, so Jonathan can bring it home today... watch for pictures later or tomorrow!
