Crocheting the fun fur onto the flip flop is SO much easier and faster than knitting... and the results are just as good... maybe better.
The white & blue pair is 2 strands of fun fur held together, and a size J crochet hook (thanks, Susan!)... those, and the black/pink pair will go in the next box to the family in Florida. The white & pink pair are for Kiesha's daughter, Kiarah, and are one strand of fun fur, crocheted with a size H hook.
I think I'm done with flip flops for now. FUN, though :)

I am SUCH a joiner... so of course, I saw these on other blogs, and couldn't resist... hopped right on the flip-flop bandwagon.
These were made with flip flops from Target ($2.99) and Lion Brand Fun Fur. For this first pair, I used 2 strands of fun fur held together (soft pink & hot pink), and size 10 1/2 needles. I cast on 20 stitches, did 8 rows of stockinette and bound off... (you need 2 of these for each flip flop). Then I wrapped it around the strap, and sewed the long side of the rectangle together.
I bought 4 pairs of flip-flops... for the next pair, I think I'm going to try crocheting the fun fur right on, so that there's no sewing...
And for the record, no, I did not finish Sam's sweater :) I haven't done much knitting today, but we've been doing a lot of cleaning around the house-- I am almost done cleaning my closet, which I've been meaning to do for MONTHS... and I put away Sam's 3-6 month clothes... lots more to do, but it's a start.

Hey, Mom! Don't you think you should sew the other arm on my sweater one of these days??? It was kind of chilly tonight, and I would have really looked cute in it!
Yes, Sam... I think I should. Maybe I'll go do it right this minute. Stay asleep for a while.
Okay... and Mom?
Yes, sweetie?
Sew the ends in while you're at it.

MUCH coughing (me, Jonathan & Sam), and not much knitting... I will bring my sock on the train to NYC (going tomorrow to take a course at the Lighthouse)... hopefully will make enough progress to post photos Saturday.

Oddly, I don't have much to say. Work work work work work. Bah! I'm looking forward to Memorial Day weekend, although I don't think we're doing anything special. I think I've talked Jonathan into buying a grill... we've had some beautiful weekends, and would be grilling veggie burgers, if we had one. Enjoy the nice weather now, because once we buy that grill, it's guaranteed to rain for at least a few weekends in a row!
The baby blanket (and the baby) progress... Amy reports the latter is "cooking along", and I have some pictures of the former.
This first picture is a close-up that shows the moss stitch & cabling (all of which has been done without a cable needle, by the way!)
This second picture was taken in natural light, and shows the color pretty well.
I worked on the socks a bit... maybe another inch or so... not enough to post a new picture.

Hey! That's not a blanket!
Yes... I couldn't resist... broke down & started another pair of socks. I needed a project that I could take places-- I was hoping to go to the Knitting Meetup last night, and I'm taking my grandmother to the doctor tomorrow... and a blanket isn't really good restaurant/waiting room knitting... so I started a sock. I think this may live in my car... there are so many times that I get home, and Sam is asleep in the carseat, and I would totally take advantage of 15 minutes of solitude. We'll see how it goes.
Work has been nuts-- we got in on Sunday morning to find the power completely out. It wasn't restored until late Sunday evening-- on Monday, the entire computer network was down. Kamal (the computer guy) got it workable, but we had no Internet or e-mail access, the laptop had to be taken out for repair, we can't access the network printer... so workable is a bit of a stretch. It's been really stressful... Kiesha, Rachel & I have compensated by snacking constantly... I just want everything to WORK again.

As predicted, I got some good knitting time in this weekend... It's amazing how much knitting you can get done when the baby is asleep & you have nothing else to do!
I realize this blanket isn't the best blog project... it can really only be laid out flat for pictures at the end of a large row... and each row is taking me about a week to complete...
It is a good general project, though... and I think I'm liking it more and more. I am definitely evolving as a knitter... working to learn new techniques, going back to correct mistakes... all good things.
By the time I get home from work tomorrow, Jonathan will be home... Yay!

Jonathan is in Toronto tonight & tomorrow night-- his grandmother passed away & he flew out for the funeral... so Sam & I are home alone... what better way to pass the time than knitting!?! Well... there's always eating... knitting is better for me though.

Mother's Day was quite successful! Sam & Jonathan took me (and my mother) out to Veggie Works for vegan brunch. We went to the beach, and took some pictures there... then to Strollo's for ices. We got to visit a bit with Gail & Dave before heading back to my aunt & uncle's house to celebrate mother's day with my grandmother.
My mother really liked her mother's day socks... and I had some time to work on the baby blanket...
I'm still not 100% sure I'm loving it... I think I might be... only time will tell.

A finished object!
Yes, the socks are finished, and with hours to spare before Mother's Day... I hope the mother likes her Mother's Day Socks!
So now, two active projects... the hoodie sweater, which I *will* finish... and the Entrelac blanket for Amy, which I look forward to working on every day... and lots of future projects rolling around in my head!

Progress continues... on two projects!
The blanket for Amy's baby is moving along nicely, although it's hard to tell anything from the picture. At the end of this row of sections, I should be able to get a picture that looks more like something.
I tried Wendy's technique for cabling without a cable needle... one of those things that just makes sense... I like it!
And although I don't have a picture, I have been working on the Koigu socks, and I should have them finished for Sunday.
I do, however, have a picture of Sam's First Haircut! BIG milestone today... Sam was such a trooper & tolerated the whole thing quite well... no tears!

See??? I have been knitting!
Here's the start of the Entrelac Shawl, in Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran, for Amy's yet-to-be-born baby... I realize this is going to take about a zillion stitches, but I think the end result will be well worth the effort!
And I have been working on the 2nd sock... I'm thinking I should probably get working on these... I wanted to finish them by May 9th... Why??? Oh, no particular reason ;)
Tomorrow is a busy day-- work til 1:00, then Stitch & Chat at 2:00... and then dinner at Makedas (YUM!) with Kiesha & Rachel, and then off to see Will Downing at the State Theater! LOTS of fun... but not enough Sam... and probably no knitting.
